A Day at the Museum

 
ARoS Art Museum in Aarhus is an internationally acclaimed museum, featuring major artists across contemporary, postmodern and classical art. 

It is one of my absolute favourite places to spend a few hours and simply let time disappear while wandering through all the visual impressions. 

I find it fascinating to explore whether I can use art installations to create new perspectives in my own photography. Not necessarily by photographing the works themselves, but by looking for ways to bring the people moving around them into the artwork — making them part of the composition and, in a sense, part of the work itself. 

I’m particularly fascinated by lines and light, and by the way they can be used in photography. An environment like ARoS offers an almost endless supply of these visual stimuli, making exploring the museum with a camera an absolute joy. 

The versatility of the Mandler 35mm f/2 is perfect for exactly this kind of environment. The 35mm focal length is slightly wide-angle, yet still precise enough to isolate smaller sections and details within a scene. 

It gives me just enough perspective to capture the environment while still allowing me to focus on the small visual moments hidden within it. 

And that, for me, is one of the great pleasures of photography — looking at familiar places in unfamiliar ways.
