A Summer in Italy
Â
For the past many years, weâve spent our summer holidays driving through Southern Europe â a tradition the whole family genuinely loves.Â
Every year, we try to explore a different part of Europe, and this time our journey took us to Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy, followed by Milan and, eventually, through the Dolomites on our way home.Â
It was one of those trips that has a little bit of everything: fascinating culture, incredible food, wonderful people, and that unmistakable Northern Italian atmosphere.Â
For the journey, I brought my Leica M10-D paired with the Mandler 35mm f/2. Its wonderfully nostalgic rendering gives the images a timeless character â almost as if they could have been taken sometime in the 1950s or â60s.Â
Thereâs nothing clinical about the way this lens renders. It has character, yet remains beautifully sharp. And because the lens is so small, the whole setup is incredibly easy to carry everywhere. Add the versatility of a 35mm focal length, and it becomes very hard to leave at home.Â
In short, the Mandler 35mm f/2 on a Leica is pretty much the perfect travel companion for a summer under the Italian sun.
