Embracing the uncomfortable // Streets of Las Olas

Street photography is a form of photography I’m not the most fluent with, but have always enjoyed seeing. It’s one that asks for as much attention as it does your intention. To find comfort in the chaos. The streets move fast and you have to adapt.

Much like how street photography asked for my attention, the @mandlerlens 35mm f/2 asked for my intention. This was a fairly new focal length for me and being a manual lens was also a different process for capturing photos. One that exposed my dependencies and forced me to slow down and see. To find the frames that spoke to me and dial it in vs trying to capture everything. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast after all.

The biggest thing for me this entire session was I felt I was moving more in the direction I’ve wanted. Challenges, frustrations, and lessons and all. I found myself more connected, more immersed, and more excited with the craft. Despite a few misses i foubd my flow, and now I just really want to shoot more. Won’t say I’m fully sold on 35mm just yet, but this lens made a damn good impression
